The individual areas are connected by buses, allowing skiers and snowboarders to easily hop from one area to another and explore a variety of pistes. Whether on the glacier of the Zugspitze, the sun-kissed family slopes of the Ehrwalder Alm or the Wetterstein area, the family-friendly runs at Marienberg in Biberwier, or the thrilling skiing with a Zugspitze view at Grubigstein in Lermoos, the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena offers conditions suitable for sporty skiers, leisurely skiers, and families with children alike. Depending on skill level, there are slopes ranging from green (for absolute beginners) to black (for experienced skiers looking to specialize in moguls or freeriding). With the “Top Snow Card,” skiers and snowboarders can also enjoy cross-border winter sports fun across 213 skiing kilometers and 87 lift facilities. One pass, two countries: the “Top Snow Card” is valid not only in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena but also in the German ski areas of the Zugspitze, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and Grainau. The card is available from just two days.

The region is a true hidden gem for cross-country skiers: At the foot of the Zugspitze, there are 131 kilometers of trails for both classic and skating styles. The routes are diverse and suitable for both ambitious athletes and relaxed enjoyers. For those who prefer to explore on foot, the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena offers 60 kilometers of cleared winter hiking trails, where hikers can enjoy the scenery and take breaks at cozy spots. Far from cleared paths and amidst nature, snowshoeing is a wonderful option. Together with guides or on their own, vacationers can immerse themselves in the pristine winter landscape.

When the Lifts are Still

On the Go – Even After a
Day on the Slopes

For those who wish to end their day in the snow actively, there is a wide range of options to choose from. Free torchlight and llama hikes take place weekly in Lermoos and Biberwier. For those seeking more action, there are night tobogganing sessions available three times a week on the slopes or toboggan runs. At Grubigstein in Lermoos and Marienberg in Biberwier, another unique experience awaits: every day, winter guests can become co-pilots in snow groomers. Here, they can learn about the work of snowcat drivers and what it takes to prepare the kilometers of slopes for the next day. A special highlight: together with mountain guides from the Lermoos Alpine School, guests can build an igloo using traditional block construction methods.

Mobility

Just Leave the Car Behind

In the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, guests can easily forgo their cars during their vacation, saving on fuel and the hassle of finding parking. Once they arrive via the toll-free motorways from Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen or Ulm to Füssen, vacationers can easily navigate the region using the well-connected bus network. Buses throughout the area are free with a valid guest card or ski pass.

The Zugspitze

The Tiroler Zugspitz Arena lies directly at the foot of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain at 2,962 meters and the tallest peak of the Wetterstein massif. The border between Germany and Austria runs along the ridge. The first cable car, the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn, was built to the Zugspitze in 1926. Today, it takes only about 10 minutes to reach the summit by train. On clear days, the view from the observation terrace extends to the Großglockner, Piz Bernina, or even Munich. In addition to winter sports activities, the interactive museum "Fascination Zugspitze" tells much about the mountain's history.
